A "sic" accord that will turn your head and blow your mind!

Accord-ingly Sic by J.R. Janicek

I am sure that if I looked up “1994 Custom Honda Accord” in an encyclopedia, J.J. Stewart’s very “sic” Honda Accord would be pictured! Simply viewing the pictures of J.J.’s ride will prove my point. Even more so is the fact that his car has won several awards such as 1st place in its auto class, most radical ride awards, and best of show awards. Believe it or not, originally, this “sic” custom import started out one way, only to end up taking a turn down a different way. J.J. wanted a mild custom, to begin with, when he bought his accord in 1996. It started out with a simple set of custom wheels and a simple custom side skirt. Yep, nice try J.J., but if you plan to outrun the custom bug you might as well have a dozen kids (a swear that is in a movie someplace) and a rather large mortgage. Yet, even then that won’t stop the bug from taking a bite out of you! As you can see, J.J. has an apparent "sic-ness" that we must address in true ESM fashion!

To kick off the "sic" journey from mild to wild, J.J. switched out the mild custom rims with a set of 18 inch Giovanna Mitos wrapped in Federal performance rubber. Next, on the "sic" list, came the extreme face lift. The stock front clip was switched out with an EVO 3 front clip and the original side skirts and bumper were trashed for a set of Cyber side skirts and rear bumper. The stock hood was thrown out for a carbon fiber reverse ram style hood and the stock mirrors were replaced with a set of MP3 signal mirrors. An APC double stack wing was bolted to the trunk and the car was then sent to the paint booth where the skin was smoothed to perfection before a coat of B17 Dayton Blue was sprayed upon the Japanese sheet metal.

With the outside looking pretty damn “sic” it was time to rip out the stock interior for a more custom look. The front and rear seats were switched out for a set of Trenzo R racing seats, covered in black tweed, which use a four point harness system. A mixed portion of black tweed and exterior matching blue paint, covers the dash, center console, and door panels. The stock floorboard was replaced with a combination black carpet and chrome diamond plate. To keep the dash from being seriously cluttered, J.J. decided to move the A/C control panel to the glove box which conceals the unsightly controls with ease. A set of custom blue carbon fiber Ractive gauges were installed in the center of the dash and a custom blue carbon fiber gauge face, by Eurolite, replaces the stock gauge face. A Myron & Davis TV/DVD combo was installed in the dash for entertainment on long trips, which send sound to two 12" Audiobahn subs located in the trunk. The audio/video sound system is powered by an Audiobahn amplifier. Topping off the interior modifications is a custom carbon fiber and blue leather steering wheel as well as a custom shift knob.

After taking a breather, J.J. decided that the car need a few minor performance adjustments. To keep the fuel flowing easily and quickly, an AEM high flow Fuel Rail was installed along with performance spark plugs and wires. To keep the power plant from suffocating under the hood, a high flow cold air intake was installed. To enable better handling and steering response, an upper strut bar was installed. The strut bar now gives the Accord a more rigid structure and provides more predictable and linear cornering. To further enhance cornering and suspension response, a set of adjustable AeroSpeed coil overs were installed. To keep consistent with the style of the car, a set of Trenzo R covers were installed along with various blue and chrome accents.

J.J.’s ride is a text book example of how a custom auto enthusiast evolves from simple, with mild mods such as wheels and tinted windows, to extreme with a full blown heavily modified "sic" ride. We have only scratched the surface of J.J.’s apparent "sic-ness" which will probably grow larger before it will eventually subside. For instance, we didn’t even bother telling you that J.J.'s ride is action packed with neon that has won him several awards, then again... we just did!
