An eye catching Chevy S-10 that is a dream that came true!

Wild Dream by J.R. Janicek

When we are tucked away in dreamland, some of us may dream of winning the lottery or having super human strength. Meanwhile, the rest of us will more than likely, especially guys, dream of cars. Some of us may dream of super sports cars such as the Ferrari Enzo or maybe even a Porsche Carrera 911; then, of course, when we are speaking of trucks, is there any substitute for the GM built Hummer? Actually, yes, there is. at least to one guy whose "wild dream" did come true. Let us introduce to you Andy Reynolds' 2000 Chevrolet S-10, which you see gracefully laid out in the grass. While most of us were dreaming of super cool exotic rides, Andy was dreaming up a few wild ideas for this daily driven mini-hauler.

The first thing that came to Andy's mind in dreamland was a paint job that would catch the eye of just about anyone who lived in his native mountain state of West Virginia, not to mention the other states he would visit during show season! The plan began to organize itself inside Andy's mind while in slumber, but would begin to take full swing once Andy was wide awake.

So, with a plan in hand, or should we say "in head," and a vision for the future of his soon to be award winning ride, Andy set out on the first part of the plan. suicide the hood, doors, and shave everything that would extrude out from the body or otherwise take away from the lines of the truck. Once that had been accomplished, Andy was pretty pleased, but he felt more is always better, so he decided to give the bed and extreme tilt function. Underneath the bed, a sheet of diamond plate was welded into place and the tail section of the bed also received a little "C-5 Corvette treatment." Completing the bed is a Check mate low profile fiberglass bed topper. On the nose section, Andy opted to go with a little import flair by molding in a Honda R-134 front bumper dressed with custom made speed grille inserts. Andy ditched the ugly stock mirrors for a set of European style carbon fiber signal sport mirrors.

The interior also received plenty of custom attention as well. The inside has various bolted on billet components as well as a fiber glassed dash, headliner, center console, and door panels. The stock buckets were exchanged for a set of racing seats with four-point harnesses.

The body was good to go and ready for paint, Martin Senour Custom purple and green paint was applied to the body which is divided up with a reversed orange flame. The exterior paint job also bleeds into the interior areas of the truck's cockpit, including the dash, rear wall, center console, door jambs, and floor. All pinstriping on the truck, inside and out, was performed by Darren's Pinstriping as well as the custom painted Chevy logo/skull on the hood of the truck. I must mention skulls are seen in various areas throughout the truck's interior and exterior, a theme Andy pulls off really well. Once the paint had dried, the clear coat was applied and the truck was then wet sanded and polished to a deep gleam.

The truck was looking good, but Andy still had a lot of work to do. You see, in the mini-truckin' arena if you are not low then you are not the competition. Andy wanted to make sure his truck was major league; otherwise the big dogs on the show circuit were bound to send him packing with his tail between his legs! To show his mini-truckin' prowess, Andy opted for a fully adjustable air suspension front and rear. With a lower suspension, the stock fuel tank had to be swapped out for a custom made diamond plate fuel tank, so the truck would lay frame with no obstructions.

For a little entertainment, this S-10 had to stay in the confines of the "wild dream." To achieve this, Andy picked out an audio system consisting of a custom made fiber glass speaker box painted to match with a molded in skull and stuffed with two 12" Cadenze subs powered by a 1200 watt Cadenze amplifier. Spinning tunes to the subs is a Clarion CD head unit. Other media hardware includes a Sony Playstation 2 and a 7" LCD TV monitor.

Of course, what is a custom mini-truck without some custom wheels? After looking through stacks of magazines and catalogs, Andy decided on a set of 20 inch BOSS 304 hoops.

Andy's "wild dream" became a reality that most of us could only. well. dream of. To further enhance the dream, Andy's truck has won various awards at many auto shows. That makes us wonder just what Andy will "dream of" next!

Shout Out: "I want to thank Martin Senor for the custom purple-orange-green and clear paint. Special thanks to Darrens Pinstripping, Adam Cutlip, Jeff & Ray Tabor Upholstery, Mom, Dad, Sis, family, and friends... this truck is truly a dream that has come true!" -Andy
