Texas Heat Wave takes place every year in the heartland of trucks... Texas. This legendary show has always had the reputation of being one of the largest in the lower 48 and it didn't let us down. The show was held at the Travis County Expo Center, which is a rather large facility, which barely accommodates this truly Texas-sized show!
This year's event was exactly what we expect from the Texas Heat Wave with top quality rides rolling in from all across the U.S.-of-A. A few more freshly paved areas expanded the show grounds to include a larger vendor area as well as a larger show 'n shine area. The newly paved areas made more room for special events like the Rockford Fosgate factory over-stock sale, the special area for Scion owners, the stage where everything from the bikini contest to the local music showcase as well as monster trucks and demos from wheelie cars and top fuel funny cars.
Once the sun said "goodnight" that is when all of the real fun began. On Saturday night they had a live performance from "The People's Champ" Paul Wall right on the show grounds as well as a wet T-shirt contest.
Sunday saw much of the same... hot rides... hot women... and hot weather (albeit a bit milder). A few thousand vehicles had rolled through the gate and five times that amount were spectators. To put things into perspective, ESM took over 600+ pictures in just one day! What you see is just a sample of what was at the show and is not truly an adequate representation of the actual size of Texas Heat Wave.
