Seldom does Elite Streets Magazine receive hate mail, but it happens. Luckily the majority of the editors and photographers have served in the military so we know how to handle getting our asses chewed, even when we truly do not deserve it. One such example is the owner of this 1997 Chevy Cavalier, whose name is Justin Grigsby. He sent ESM a very nasty e-mail because his feature did not run this past summer and interpreted it as we were "disrespecting" his ride. He was kind-of like, "Dude, Where’s My Car? Why are you disrespecting me by not featuring my ride?" (not a quote, just an interpretation) So, we apologized to Justin for the misunderstanding and assured him his feature would be in the last issue of 2006... and whatcha' know... here it is!
After giving Justin's 1997 Chevy Cavalier a look we can understand why he wanted it up so quickly. It isn't a six-digit custom with a billion mods, but it is one that caught our attention. Kutting Edge Kustomz handled the body mods which include a fully shaved exterior, custom body kit, OEM carbon fiber hood, custom paint, M3 sport mirrors, aluminum wing, TYC euro lighting all the way around, and a custom grille.
With the exterior good-to-go the interior was reworked by Clark's Trim Shop which includes custom purple and black leather with tweed accents throughout. Faris gauges, an Insane short-throw shifter, a Sphere shift knob, a billet mirror, a stainless steering wheel, and custom paint finish off the interior's speed theme. When Justin isn't listening to his gears shifting, a JBL CD player spits a little music in the air. Topping off the overall asthetic appeal of this cool sport compact is a set of 18-inch R-Tech wheels wrapped in performance rubber.
Under the hood, Justin had a polished valve cover installed along with custom wire loom. To help maximize engine performance, Justin opted for a custom MSA racing exhaust and a Bomz cold air intake kit.
Justin, we dig your enthusiasm for custom autos and the fact that you were so eager to see your ride on Elite Streets Magazine. However, we do not dig how you ripped us a new one. With no disrespect, I leave you with this important piece of advice... patience is a virtue.
