Hundreds of cars were on display at the annual Scrapin' the Coast Auto Show at the Coast Coliseum June 23-27, 2007. People from all over the United States were at the event for one common bond... the love of custom autos.
The afternoon burnout drew quite a crowd including Biloxi Mayor, A.J. Holloway. It's one of many events that make up Scrapin' the Coast. "It's about getting together, having a good time... you have the burn out competition going on and people are just having a good time," said Eric Kendrick, Scrapin' the Coast Founder and Organizer.
As the day faded to evening, the show carried over to nearby Gulfport Dragway, which hosted an after-party that rocked until the late night hours with drag racing and a wild bikini contest.
People from California to Maine are turning out to show off their imports, street rods, donks, motorcycles, sport trucks, low riders... you name it! Approximately 1,600 cars were registered for this year's event. That's compared to 1,000 cars at last year's event, and organizers expect Scrapin' The Coast to continue to grow each year.
"Hopefully, we're looking for that major sponsor that wants to come out and take over the show for us... we are looking for a big key person that's going to put the show over the top. We want to bring out more top acts, you know, big bands," Kendrick said.
