The Southern Showdown show series, hosted by Cool Cars of Louisville, had a change of venue this year and was held at the Bullitt County Fairgrounds in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. This show is in its eighth year now and the ESM crew always enjoys covering it. There were plenty of custom autos on hand from reflector collecting low-riders to sky scrapin' 4x4s. No doubt tyhe Bullitt County Fairgrounds was a haven for custom auto enthusiasts. There was a lot to see and do during the two-day event, with plenty of vendors on hand who were more than happy to discuss their products.
DJ Kidd Kutt was on hand to keep the party going by spinning tunes, while various vendors provided food and drink. There were also two bikini contests, one on Saturday and one near the end of the show on Sunday. The rather impressive hydraulic contest, featuring some of the highest flying hoppers in the mid-west, was on Saturday and is probably one of the largest in this area. The stereo contest was on Saturday as well, but also carried over to Sunday.
Thanks largely to the efforts of Bryan Gillespie and the Cool Cars crew, the Southern Showdown series has become a successful auto show in the Louisville area that is always a worthwhile event to attend. Until next year... |
