Lo Fo Mo Co By J.R. Janicek

When looking for a modified Ford F-150 with really nice paint, ESM instantly stopped our search when we came across this awesome 1999 Ford F-150 owned by Josh Smith of Lakeland, Tennessee. The killer graphics that covers the body and interior of this truck really make it an awesome rig that is hard to miss.

Custom F-150s are kind of hard to come across at shows and in fact when Josh decided to customize a blue oval, his friends said he was plain "loco" for picking a Ford. Josh says he isn't loco, but instead he is "Lo Fo Mo Co." The name stuck and now the truck carries the rather peculiar name of "Lo Fo Mo Co" which is simply an acronym for: Low Ford Motor Company.

Since the first part of the truck's acronymic name is "Lo" it was a moral imperative that the truck get down to mother earth. Achieving this goal is an altered suspension consisting of front and rear airbags, C-notched frame with a custom bridge, and a custom made 4-link. The wheels of choice are 22-inch DUB Cross with NS Allsport tires.

With the suspension work out of the way, Josh handed the keys over to Robbie Lawless of Slidell, Louisana, who massaged the imperfections out of the body and prepped it for paint. Adding pieces to the paint-prepped truck include Ford Lightning front and rear bumpers, and Street Scene mirrors. Robbie then applied the House of Kolors yellow, purple, blue, orange, and green hues to the truck. Robbie then applied a mix of flame and checker board graphics seen on the exterior and interior of the truck. Finishing off the exterior is a Street Beat billet grille and Ford Lightning headlights.

Inside of the F-150, Josh and his dad, Keith Smith, came up with an interior design that would complement the overall scheme and pigments from the outside. Josh started things off by having the dash, door panels, and all plastic pieces smoothed and painted by Robbie Lawless. Josh's dad then took over and wrapped the seats in multi-colored green and blue ostrich skin with purple tweed to provide the contrast. The stock carpet was dyed purple, the stock headliner was replaced with a purple tweed headliner with raised flames, and the door panels and dash received purple tweed inserts. A custom billet steering wheel, billet pedals, flamed gauge cluster, custom carpet floor mats, custom window tint, and a billet rear view mirror cap off the interior upgrades.

Under the hood, Josh added a cold air intake to the stock 5.4 V-8 power plant. A custom Magnaflow high flow exhaust system was hung under the bed to give the engine plenty of extra breathing room.

18 long months and $30,000 later, Josh Smith, his friends, and his dad, have created a very competitive show truck and considering this was his first time out, we say Josh isn't loco at all, but we will say he is "Lo Fo Mo Co."

Shout Out: "Special thanks to Elite Streets Magazine for the feature!" -Josh Smith
