There are three elements in the custom truck world that always draw instant attention: suspension, wheels, and paint. Nearly every standout customized truck has had a pigment, wheel, and altitude modification at some point during its life span. Keeping this in mind, Tim Croney of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, had his 1999 Ford F-250 lifted, painted, and rollin' on deuces for instant appeal.
First, Tim decided to send his rig to Chris Skinner of Custom Audio in Madisonville, Kentucky to give it a little more altitude. Fabtech supplied a menagerie of hardware to get this truck sky high which includes shocks, spindles, springs, and a 4-link setup in the rear. Of course, if you are going to own a giant ride, you have got to get the necessary wheels to match! Tim opted for a set of Mazzi Hulk 22-inch wheels wrapped in enormous 22 x 12 Toyo Open Country tires.
Along with the suspension, the wildest modification is an eye-catching House of Kolor Violet Purple paint job. To see this giant purple truck towering above a sea of ground hugging mini-trucks at a truck show is quiet a sight! Finishing off the exterior looks are billet grille inserts, billet fuel hatch, clear headlights, chrome step bar, chrome door handles, chrome tow hooks, and a hard tonneau topper that covers the Rhino lined bed.
Of course, it takes more than just basics to make it into the pages of Elite Streets Magazine, so there are a few more modifications that make this truck outstanding! Behind the tinted windows, lies an interior consisting of leather and ostrich skin. A hint of the exterior paint scheme accents the interior which keeps a continuous and harmonizing flow.
Sound projects through a Pioneer head unit connected to six Pioneer speakers in each of the custom door panels and a custom carpeted box housing four Pioneer subs. Look closer and you will notice the custom sub box mounted under the rear seat flows from the cab into the bed in true walk-thru fashion. Four amps are mounted to the back of the box, which power the cab's thumpin' sound system. All of the interior audio refinements were performed by Chris Skinner of Custom Audio in Madisonville, Kentucky.
Under the hood, the stock Ford V-10 engine was treated to a K&N cold air intake system. To help the engine breathe a lot easier, a custom exhaust was hung under the bed and topped off with stainless steel exhaust tips.
Tim's 3/4-ton hauler is a perfect attention grabber. With a massive stance, huge chrome rollers, and a unique paint scheme, it is hard for this "purple giant" to go unnoticed anywhere.
Shout Out: "Thanks to Custom Audio, Landonna Croney, The Gipper, Chris Skinner, D.D., and all of the members of No Limits Car Club! " -Tim Croney |
