Tera Patrick's height, exotic looks, and spectacular body would seem more suited to a high-fashion model - which is exactly what she was, having spent five years as a model with the world-famous Ford Agency. She was born in Montana, and her family moved to San Francisco shortly thereafter. Her mother soon left the family to go back to Thailand, and she was raised in San Francisco by her father. While strolling around that city's famed Fisherman's Wharf one day she was spotted by a talent scout for the Ford Modeling Agency, and at the tender age of 13 was signed to a contract. At 18 she quit modeling and returned to school, getting a degree in microbiology. Although she found employment as a nurse, her curiosity about nude modeling got the best of her, and she was soon appearing in men's magazines. By 1999 she felt ready to dive into the adult industry and thus began her meteoric rise to the top. ESM had the pleasure of cornering Tera for an interview and this is what she had to say...

- Where were you born and where do you live now?
I grew up in Great Falls, Montana which is about an hour south of Alberta, Canada. I spent some of my childhood in Canada as well. I don't know French though. We have very cold winters, but it was a beautiful place to grow up. I had a blast. A lot of my hobbies, fishing, hunting, camping, have a lot to do with the fact that I grew up there. When I was thirteen I moved to New York to be a fashion model with the Ford Agency. I live in Los Angeles now, but I also spend a lot of time in Northern California. That's pretty much where I will be for a while. I do plan to move back to Montana after my career is over. I love the country and I want to go back.
- What were you like growing up?
I was always very outgoing. I have always loved to be in front of the camera, very talkative, very extraverted, like I am now. My little brother is eight and he is exactly the same. People always told me I should be an actress. I still love working in front of the camera, I love taking photographs and I prefer modeling to acting. Acting is something you have to learn over years. I have a background in fashion and still love doing fashion photography. I also love doing nudes. They are an extension of fashion to me.
- What caused you to pursue modeling?
I was really interested in being a model when I was a little girl. I loved all the pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. I loved watching old movies -- I was really into Bettie Page, she was a big role model to me. I've always looked up to models like Elaine Irwin and Stephanie Seymour. I've always loved modeling.
- You have a very exotic look, what is your ethnic background?
My father met my mother in Vietnam, during the war. My mother is from Thailand and my father is from England. So, I am half English and half Thai.
- What is/are Your favorite food(s)?
Sushi. I love sushi. I usually eat brown rice and tuna. I love fish. I love Asian food. You could even say Thai food. I love Oriental food. I eat a lot of sushi and Thai food.
- What kind of music do you listen to?
I like artists like Pink Floyd, Everlast, Cypress Hill, Incubus, Rage Against The Machine, Alice In Chains. Old rock and new rock is great too.
- Where would you go if you had the chance to travel right now?
Egypt. I want to see the Pyramids. That is a sexual fantasy to have sex around the Pyramids. You know what I'll be doing when I go to Egypt! ;-)
- What do you prefer to do with your spare time (hobbies, etc.)?
I have a lot of hobbies my biggest hobby is taking care of my little dog Chopper... if you can call that a hobby. I like to buy him clothes and buy him outfits and bags and I like to walk him and he consumes a lot of my time. I like to scrapbook. I have a Hello Kitty room that I read in, I paint, I write, I love to travel and shop... traveling and shopping, two of life's most wonderful things!
- Turn Ons:
Confidence; not cockiness, but confidence. I love shaved heads and tattoos. Someone who is eager to please, but not too eager to please, and I like somebody who is objective and open to my needs.
- Turn Offs:
As for turnoffs, cigarettes and alcohol. No smoking, absolutely no smoking. I don't drink and I don't like the smell of alcohol, and I don't like anybody who is drunk. I don't like guys who don't groom themselves, especially "down there" and you need to have good teeth and good breath. Oh and no hairy backs!
- Name one thing most people don't know about you?
I knit.
- What is a recurring fantasy that you have had?
Let's just say, they involve the fire department and maybe the LAPD.
- Do you have any piercings or tattoos?
I have one tattoo of a rose on my right ankle. I got that when I was thirteen.
- How do you feel about being an ESM feature model?
I think it is great, after all the internet is the best way to meet my fans!
