Our goal here at Elite Streets Magazine has always been to bring you the best coverage of vehicles and events from around the country. Now and then however, we get really lucky and discover something so far from the ordinary that we know you'll love it. You've seen car and truck shows before but you may not have seen one this big.
75 Chrome in Wildwood, Florida specializes in custom accessories for semis. Well known to truckers around the country, the shop has been catering to the needs of big-rig drivers since 1990, offering an amazing array of chrome, lights, CBs, vinyl lettering, air horns, exhaust stacks, and more. Every April, they put on their Pride and Polish truck show, now in its 11th year, attracting big rigs from around the country to the three-day event. With the same mix of custom paint, chrome, and body modifications as standard show trucks - just way more of it! - these colorful semis look hot on the weekend and work hard hauling cargo during the week. Although there were separate classes for working and non-working trucks, it was hard to tell them apart without looking at the cards in the windshield. The working trucks were that good. Spectators wandered the rows of trick trucks for hours, appreciating the time and attention lavished on these over-the-road giants.
By coincidence, there happened to be a large motorcycle event held nearby and bikers passing by were naturally drawn to the show. The collection of cool custom bikes in the front parking lot added another dimension to the event. But the truckers had their own surprise for spectators, making this two shows instead of one. Gleaming chrome and custom paint shined during the day but when the sun goes down, the 75 Chrome parking lot reflected all the colors of the rainbow as each of these big rigs lit up. With yards and yards of brightly colored neon and LEDs, the semis took on a whole new personality. Spectators not only enjoyed this one-of-a-kind light show but got an extra perk, thanks to Matt Coleman and his band who added a little country music to the mix.
